Life Beyond the Room, or LBR, is a travel concierge dedicated to creating custom, unique itineraries for travelers seeking authentic experiences immersed in the lifestyle, flavors and culture of each region.

Our mission of preserving culture and tradition through meaningful travel, plus our deep ties to Italy, have allowed us to partner with boutique, locally-owned accommodations that maintain a strong sense of place and allow travelers an authentic and immersive experience like no other.

LBR was founded by Karen Costa Hattaway, an Italian native born and raised in Rome. Her passion for traveling, foreign languages, and different cultures inspired her to found LBR in 2018. Since then, she has been on a mission to bring authentic travel experiences to her clients. She focuses on sustainability and preserving the places we visit as a forefront of every travel experience she offers.

LBR is based in Georgia, USA, but Karen and her family reside in Ladispoli, Italy.
